Our Story

For three decades, our family workshop has produced furniture for some of the largest names in American retail.

You've probably sat on our sofas at a friend's house — under a different name, at a different price.

Modnium is what happens when the workshop sells directly. Same kiln-dried hardwood frames. Same eight-way hand-tied springs. Same craftspeople, with the same standards they've used for thirty years. Without the layers of distributors, retailers and markups in between.

Made by people, not just machines

Every Modnium sofa starts with a kiln-dried hardwood frame, hand-joined by a craftsperson who's been making sofas for fifteen years or more. Cushions are filled with high-density CertiPUR-US certified foam wrapped in down for the rare combination of structure and softness. Upholstery is hand-tailored, double-stitched, and rated for 100,000+ Martindale rubs.

None of this is uncommon in furniture built to last a decade. It's just uncommon in furniture sold at our prices.

Why this exists now

For thirty years our craft was sold to you wholesale, marked up at every stop, and presented as the work of a different company. The internet made that model obsolete — but a generation of brands chose to keep the markups and add stock photos.

Modnium is the opposite trade: workshop construction, transparent specs, direct pricing, ten-year warranty. The story is short because the product is the story.
